Cloud MT // How does Find and Filter Related Items work?

Cloud MT offers the option to show Related Items on any Product Detail Page. This means you can show your customer similar items to the one they are currently viewing, which has a number of advantages, including:

    • Smarter product discovery - with relevant suggestions at a similar price point, you can naturally guide shoppers toward other products they'd genuinely consider purchasing, opening up more selling opportunities.
    • Greater customer confidence - recommendations that make sense help customers feel like you understand what they're looking for, which builds trust
    • No additional clicks - your customer can navigate straight to the Product Detail Page of a Related Item, without needing to perform a new search or navigate around the site again

The Related Items will show at the bottom of the Product Detail Page, under the heading ‘You may also like…’. Here is an example of a Product Detail Page that is displaying Related Items:

If you would like to enable this feature on your Ecommerce site:

    1) In Cloud MT, navigate to Site Management > Store Configuration.

    2) Scroll to the section titled Modular Item Page Configuration.

    3) Select the checkbox for Related Items:

    4) Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

Your Ecommerce site will show five Related Items for a product. Related Items are selected based on Facets (e.g. Item Group, brand). This works in two ways:

    • There are some default settings on the Find & Filter General Settings page. The Item Group will always be considered, but from this page you can choose which other Facets you would like Cloud MT to prioritise when selecting Related Items. For example, you could ask for Brand to be prioritised:

    ‘Use FAF Landing Page’

Please note that this setting will not affect your Related Items selection. This setting will enable/disable the creation of Automatic Landing Pages, as described here.

    • You can also assign specific ‘Related Items Facets’ to an individual item. These would then be used instead of the default settings (above). You can find these settings at the bottom of every item setup page in Cloud MT:

Related Items are ordered by how close their price is to the original product. The most similarly priced items appear first. If two items have the same price difference (for example, one is 5.00 above and another is 5.00 below), the more recently activated item takes priority.

    Colour Groups

If a product belongs to a colour group, Cloud MT uses the colour group master's Facets to find related items, but it still uses the individual product's price for comparison, not the master's.

For example: there is a colour group containing three colours of a jacket: navy (45.00), red (45.00) and limited edition green (50.00), with the navy as the master item.
For the Related Items of the limited edition green jacket, the Facets of the navy jacket would be used, but Cloud MT would still use the price point (50.00) of the green option.

    Frequently Asked Questions

In this case, fewer than five items will be shown. For example, if three items meet your chosen Related Items criteria, those three items would be displayed. They will not be repeated.

The Related Items feature will start working on your website with your site's next scheduled restart, so you won't see them appear instantly. The same is true if you have just disabled Related Items — they will be removed from Product Detail Pages with the site's next scheduled restart.
